by / Monday, 08 June 2015 / Published in News/Blog

stretchSpringhouse Senior Living is proud to share the talents of our resident Fuzzy Downs. Currently displaying in our Woodside Café is “Adventures on Paper” mixed media by Fuzzy. The exhibit features cartoons drawn by Fuzzy in 2007, never intended for public display but a fun way to depict aspects of aging in a senior living community. In addition to the cartoon drawings Fuzzy’s exhibit includes many watercolor paintings.Fuzzy a retired Physician and faculty member of Columbia’s School of Public Health, and has never studied painting or drawing formally.

Upon retiring at age 70 and moving to Boston and to Springhouse in 1996 her “adventures” continued. Fuzzy found new adventures here at Springhouse through her drawing and painting safely and creatively without leaving her apartment. “Hat’s off” to Fuzzy for her humor, creativity and tenacity to continually challenge herself now even at the age of 103!! She is an inspiration to all who know her. Come stop by her exhibit on display in our art gallery until June 20, 2015.
