Warm Weather Means Gardening!

by / Monday, 20 June 2016 / Published in News/Blog

Springhouse residents enjoyed the warmer weather spring provided so they put on their gardening gloves on for some planting. Residents planted flowers for the many containers in our garden and were excited to plant herbs and vegetables this year in several of the raised beds throughout the garden.

Cilantro, chives, rosemary, parsley and sweet basil are the varieties of herbs planted which will provide lots of inspiration for our chefs to incorporate into flavorful meals for our residents.

The summer squash planted in our new raised bed has already begun to grow. Residents enjoyed taking a trip up the street to Allandale Farm and pick out which vegetables they wanted to incorporate into the garden. This year tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, summer squash, beans and cucumbers were all planted. Springhouse residents are outside every day enjoying our garden or our beautiful patio with water feature. There will be many anxious eyes to see how well the vegetables will grow this summer. Stay tuned to “how the Springhouse garden grows.” Pictures will follow when we pick our first vegetable!
